KAXU/XINA/KHI (Renewable Energy)

FEB Consulting was appointed by Low Voltage Switchboards to supply the PLC and SCADA (Siemens) software for the water and water waste treatment plants on the Kaxu, Khi and Xina Solar Plants in the Northern Cape, South-Africa.

The plants extract water from the Orange River and produce different stages of water quality for use on the Solar Plants, where the final stage is demineralized water that is used for the steam in the generator turbines.

The following was completed by FEB:

  • Part of the EC&I Design Team
  • All software for the PLC-control and SCADA (Siemens)
  • Online operational help and support

Afrisam- Lesotho Cement Plant

FEB Consulting was responsible for the complete Electrical and Instrumentation design, installation and implementation.

The plant, which is situated on Afrisam’s Lesotho distribution centre in Maseru, is meant to provide all the countries cement needs, with a capacity to blend and pack 200 000 tonnes of the building material per annum.

The following was completed by FEB:

  • Low voltage Reticulation for all electrical equipment, lighting and small power
  • Simulations on the control loops
  • Control system design for all instrumentation
  • Control software as well as SCADA software (Siemens PLC) for the blending process
  • Control elements on the plant
  • Production and Management Reports
  • Online operational help and support

KAT Prototype (Karoo Array Telescope)

FEB Consulting was appointed by IST Dynamics and was responsible for the Project Management of the prototype phase of the KAT.

The following was completed by FEB:

  • The coordination and management of mechanical-, electronic-, and electrical engineers to design and build the prototype of the KAT
  • Responsible for managing sub-contractors
  • Coordinate and manage the composite dish structure and the civil works for the dish pedestal

The project was completed within the time frame and within budget.

Kwikbuild Cement Silverton

The blending plant was set up in Silverton, Pretoria East. Kwikbuild 32,5N can be used in a variety of applications for domestic concrete usage to large building operations.

The following was completed by FEB:

  • The manual blending plant was converted into a fully automated blending plant
  • Design, manufacture and implementation of control panel with remote monitoring capabilities to automate the blending process
  • Our own PC based Blending Software along with our instruments (see products) is used to control the process
  • Production and Management Reports
  • Operational help and support

Eskom Rotek Industries (Energy)

New workshop Eskom Rotek Industries is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eskom Enterprises, which in turn forms part of Eskom Holdings. It was established to provide construction, maintenance and transportation services in support of Eskom operations. FEB Consulting provided the PC Based Crane Usage-Monitor System for their new workshop at Rotek Engineering in Johannesburg.

The following was completed by FEB:

  • FEB supplied the PC Based Crane Usage-Monitoring System (see products) and the installation was done by NCS Industrial and Weighing
  • The Crane Monitoring Software with user login security was installed on 8 cranes within a newly built workshop. Cranes are only enabled once a valid operator logs on
  • The software enable management to monitor all operations on the cranes, the data is automatically downloaded to a server
  • Reports on usage of cranes is available
  • Online operational help and support

The project was completed within the time frame and within budget.
